So I finally have internet AND time enough to update this thing!
I'm Brittany, France. Have been for the past four days. We're staying in a little town called Dinard. It's made up of huge rocks, trees, and sand. It's right on the coast. The weather constantly changes, one minute it's shining beautifully and the next it's raining... beautifully. The weather today is perfect.
Today we are celbrating Salonge's 80th birthday today. Sine Salonge is the cook and couldn't be expected to cook on her birthday, hired a native Brittinian (?) to come and cook crepes outside. She's out there now, dressed in old timey brittany clothes. It's really neat, and the crepes are delicious.
Yesterday I took the boys to the beach, which is right in front of the house basically. I've never been to a cooler beach. It was private so not too many people were down there, and it was so relaxing. A pretty darn good day.
We went to restuarant called the Creperie for dinner two nights ago. Had salty crepes and sugar crepes. The food Selonge has been cooking has been simply amazing. But it's hard asking for recipes cause she doesn't speak english. At all. I'll figure it out though :)
Basically what this vacation is is Cecile's side of the family all getting together for the summer. She's one of six and alot of them have already arrived and more still coming. Her mom and dad, Mamma-sho and Daniel are the hostess and host. I've met Elaine, one of the sisters; a captivative story teller, very animated and captures her audience's attention very well. Nicole is another of her sisters. She's very sweet, more on the motherly side, very down to earth but fun at the same time. She has five children. Jeanne is fourteen and the only one of the five here so far. She brought a friend with her, Cecile is her. This is a nice family. Very close knit, but I'm finding my place in the midst of it. They remind me of what the Marshall kids might be like in twenty years. Ha
I like it here in Brittany. My room is on the fourth floor and I've got a great view. And the past two days I've been able to sleep in which has been HEAVEN! I can't believe I've not even been here a week. It seems like I've been here forever. Hope this blog finds all my readers well. I hink they're getting ready to cut the cake so I need to go celebrate:)
