We left the rented house and stayed the rest of our time at Mamie's. Nothing out of the ordinary happened so there's not a whole lot to tell, it was relaxing, relatively. I learned how to crochette, and I also learned some new recipes. Glad to say I've been quite pruductive.
We left Mamie's yesterday after lunch and drove for about four hours to La Rochelle. We dropped off our bags at the hotel and freshend up a bit and then we headed out on foot to the center of the city.
La Rochelle is quite possibly one of my favorite places, ever. It has a rich history, and an energy that's a mix of a quaint little town and NYC. So cool.
It's built around a harbor that was used to hide persecuted protestants after the French Revolution, so it's really famous in France. I didn't realize I've been there before until I saw the animal show (the same animal show that was there four years ago), Alison will remeber it. After that everything seemed to ring a bell. We had dinner at a little sidwalk cafe/resturaunt place, and I ordered a crab. I'm not exactly an expert when it comes to cracking shells so I and my surrounding area became quite a mess by the time I finished. But the crab was really good and I was very well satisfied :)
After dinner we took a boat ride around the harbor and then walked around for bit longer. We stopped to watch a guy juggle knives while riding a three-wheel-high unicylce. COOL
There was a mime imitating passerbys and a guy painted silver like a statue handing out flowers. There was jazz music floating through the air and it all made for an extremely enjoyable night on the town.
We left hotel this morning after breakfast and drove the rest of the way, about four hours, back here to Dinard, which is where we'll be until the end of next week.
